Violence in Society

In today's society we see violent acts daily. It's geting progressively worse where we see it everywhere. It has become a major issue in society because it is escalating to the point where the violence is seen as okay. We see it on the news, in tv shows, and in video games. We see news of younger kids getting into fights and kids ending up in the hospital because of it. This happens because of things they see at home or because of violent video games or tv shows that show that it's okay.

This violence we see is affecting youths minds and for generations to come it will make them think its okay. Another factor is what goes on at home. There is a lot of domestic violence in society because of bad childhoods, upbringing, or experiences. This can have a negative effect after because these factors can alter their way of thinking and their actions later in life. We need to make programs to help these kids realize what's going on is bad and wrong. Rating for tv shows, movies, and other media that could influence generations need to be changed and/or re-evaluated.

  1. It is sad to see all the acts of violence on the news or in the media, and it has become more prevalant over the years. The Treyvon Martin and Tori Stafford murders are two examples of many which represent violence in our society. Movies and video games, in my opinion, are a huge contributing factor to violent in youth today and they should be regulated and controlled to decrease the influence of violence in younger generations.

  2. You really hit the nail on the head here. Violence and seeing violence is becoming a daily occurrence. It is movies, TV shows, games, there are even references to it in songs. This is affecting youth because they are getting used to seeing it and because of that they are thinking that it is okay. When it definitely isn't. How are humans supposed to try be more peaceful when the next generation is growing up thinking that violence is okay? The government regulating what we see or hear is a solution for sure but one that will not go over well. People are already upset about the government censoring our internet. I think the solution should start at home. Parents should talk to their children and tell them that violence is not the answer. Ever. I think we would see some progress.

  3. Sarah you are definitely right that it's happening around us frequently that we see it as being ok. The main reason we see violence as being ok is because it is happening in the media which has a negative effect on children especially and it makes it look like it is ok. We presume that because it's on TV, video games, movies, our idols in movies are doing it so it must be ok. So many activities now involve hitting, karate, paint-balling, it gives children the wrong impressions.

  4. Sarah,
I agree with your post. I think that the youth have taking the biggest toll on this issue and because of this we are either going to see a lot more violence in our society, or if we properly inform the youth, we can become a less violent society. It is what it is, its just our responsibility to make it happen.

  5. I completely agree with you, in terms of violence I feel like as a society we are going backwards in terms of the amount of it, how we view it and how we deal with it. Children at younger and younger ages are being exposed to violence in the media more than anything. We need to make sure that as a society we make it clear that violence should is not accepted.
